would be nice to be able to use the space key to scroll down as space key is used to scroll down in browsers too (and I use space often in the web browser to scroll down when surfing with my laptop). Work often with laptop and trackpoint but with no mouse and scroll wheel.
Currently, space means highlight a file.
feature req: ability to scroll down file list per space key
Re: feature req: ability to scroll down file list per space
Interesting idea, not for me, but if you want it now, you can use the HotkeyP tool (only 234.9 kB):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hotkeyp/
Use these options for hotkey in HotkeyP:
Hot key: Space (just press Space key)
Command: Macro to active window
Parameters: \pagedown FreeCommander.exe
It works, tested in XE 633, in list and details view.
You can add also another shortcut to go up:
Hot key: Shift+Space
Command: Macro to active window
Parameters: \pageup FreeCommander.exe

Re: feature req: ability to scroll down file list per space
thanks for that hint.
the reason is that I stick with the lenovo track point (fan of) and the thumb is, therefore, always near the space bar.
