Disable the Big Icon that follows the cursor while dragging

#1 Post by PoP » 27.10.2013, 09:27

Please, please, please avoid the BIG ICON that moves with the cursor when dragging !!!!!

This horrible and obfuscating feature of Win Explorer was absent, fortunately, in FreeCommander. But now it's present in FC too
If some people like the feature make it optional
and please give us the possibility not to show this big icon
or make it smaller (like when dragging from the desktop)

Thanks

Try to deactivate the option "Use blocking transfer..." under Settings - File/folder operations - Drag&Drop.

That's it.

Anyway, I think it's not a bug, topic moved to Beta Discussion.

Thanks a lot.

I looked at the drag&drop settings but I could not imagine that this 'blocking mode" was responsible for the icon :!

You were right to move the topic to the discussion, my mistake.

Perhaps there should be a note about that in Settings. I didn't know it either.

Thank you for sorting this one out! I myself had been troubled by that horrible large icon, and have now abolished it in FC, thanks to this thread. I still get it in Windows Explorer, though, but there, instead of just a '+' or arrow, Explorer says 'Copy to [foldername]' or 'Open with [program name]', etc, and actually I would most appreciate that addition in FC, to make it as clear as possible just what one's particular drag / drop would achieve.

I looked again at that Drag&Drop tab in the File / Folder operations settings, and I realized that there is an option for a popup menu for left click drop. I've just tested that, and I do have to say I wish I'd found that yonks ago, because that is really brilliant! That is a great safeguard against inadvertent drops in wrong places, and ensures that the correct operation is chosen even if one, say, forgot to press Shift or Control at the right time. I shall keep that option enabled!

Thank you again (and again!) for all your painstaking work, Marek!
