Start folders

#1 Post by WerLe » 18.02.2015, 09:20

The handling of start-folders in FC seems to be not appropriate for me or I have'nt understood, how to control it in "Settings.."

My way of handling folders for repetitive work on files in folders is like this:

>> I want FC to start always with the same selection of folders in the panels.

>> Sometimes I want to change this selection in a simple way, for example "start with currently selected folders" or similiar.

>> While working with FC, I may change the paths of the panels and even close the program. But the start-folders should be well defined as described above.

Is this possible with FC 64bit?

Thanks
Werner

Look into:

Settings
Start program
Start/TEMP folder tab
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3447)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1372a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.3, Listary Pro 6.3.0.73
FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 906 64-bit donor

Thanks Horst,

Using this Setting-tab I have tried to find, what I want.

I can select:
>> Settings\Start Program\Start/TEMP folder <<
and select start-folders for both panels , but this is not a really fast handling.

I think it would be more effective, if I could select appropriate folders in the panels
and then select in a simple way "start with currently selected folders" or similiar.
Maybe using some fast sub-menue or buttons or so.
The selected folders can be inserted into the settings described above for next start.

Werner

My recommendation is to use layouts if you have a number of different configurations you want.

Set panels the way you want them. Go to View, Layouts, Save current layout...

Personally I use the setting as described by Horst to always have FC open to my set folders. Then I use layouts to have FC set my panes with specific folders as needed for a particular project I'm working on.

You can set an icon on the action toolbar to access layouts in one click.

thanks wrbird,

I did not know this feature and it is a very GOOD FEATURE!
Such I can generate even several layouts, I can select.
