Hello Timon,

thank you for your continuous work on updating this important plugin.
If you keep updating it, I guess you want it to actually be used by the people.
When I try to download from my-files.ru, I get "The service is not available. Please try again later."
So please, find some not-so-obscure uploading site, where users ca actually download from!

Thanks again.

hi timon,

after searching the forum i finally found your thread about the 7-zip plugin for freecommander xe and i was able to download the latest version. but even reading the readme.rtf i am not able to see how to do a correct installation in freecommander xe as most of the information given is for total commander. honestly, i am a bit lost  :)

so my question: is there a step-by-step instruction for freecommander xe? that would be great and sorry in case there is one in this forum. i could not find it.

regards, thank you and keep up the good work

peter

Original plugin author stopped further development, all info in readme.rtf is mainly from the original plugin version.
so my question: is there a step-by-step instruction for freecommander xe? that would be great and sorry in case there is one in this forum. i could not find it.
We have discussion how to configure plugin viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5142

Updated Total7Zip plugin based on current 7-Zip 18.01 release (both 32 and 64 bit versions)

What's new in 7-Zip 18.01 (after 7-Zip 16.04) :
Minor speed optimization for LZMA2 (xz and 7z) multi-threading compression.
7-Zip now uses additional memory buffers for multi-block LZMA2 compression.
CPU utilization was slightly improved.
7-zip now creates multi-block xz archives by default. Block size can be specified with -ms[Size]{m|g} switch.
xz decoder now can unpack random block from multi-block xz archives.
7-Zip File Manager now can open nested multi-block xz archives (for example, image.iso.xz) without full unpacking of xz archive.
7-Zip now can create zip archives from stdin to stdout.
ZIP unpacking code was improved.
7-Zip now can unpack OBJ/COFF files.
7-Zip now can unpack DMG archives that use LZFSE compression method.
7-Zip now doesn't allow update operation for archives that have read-only attribute.
7-Zip command line: @listfile now doesn't work after -- switch.
Use -i@listfile before -- switch instead.
new -sse switch to stop archive creating, if 7-Zip can't open some input file.
7-Zip now reserves file space before writing to file (for extraction from archive).
It can reduce file fragmentation.
Internal changes in code.
The BUGs were fixed:
7-Zip could add unrequired alternate file streams to WIM archives, for commands that contain filename wildcards and -sns switch.
Extracting from tar with -si switch didn't set timestamps for directories.
Some bugs were fixed. 7-Zip could crash in some cases.

Some additional details about changes:
The code for ZIP headers parsing was rewritten. There were big changes in that code.
There were problems with zips created in macos.
There were problems with some rare case zip64 archives.
Additional timestamp handling in UX extra field (Unix Extra).
Now 7-Zip shows IDs of extra fields in "Characteristics" column for ZIP and RAR.
7-Zip now uses Windows encoding instead of OEM for passwords for ZipCrypto unpacking.
It's possible to use "xz" method in ZIP with -mm=xz.
Deflate decoding can be slightly faster now.
bzip2 decoding can be faster now.
DMG support was improved.
7-Zip supports ns precision in EXT4 and RAR's timestamps (RARs from linux and android). It's rounded to 100 ns precision (Windows precision) in 7-Zip.
7-Zip File Manager.
You can switch timestamp precision in View. But that setting is not stored in registry still.
Additional File commands now are available by default:
Open Inside #
Open Inside *
and you can use them when some archive is open already.
Previous 7-Zip could crash for drag drop to open archive.
7-Zip could crash for some "bad" archives (7z archives and other types).
new switches:
-snt[-] Replace trail dots and spaces in file names for Extract operation
-mtr- : disable file attributes storing (7z archives only)
Better compatibility with VS 2015/2017 compilers in source code.

Updated plugin could be found here:

File size - 3 Mb
Following this link, and picking one of the generated download links, resulted in a viral download with very nasty malware ...
I advise to be very vigilant as to what you download. I managed to download a file called "wcx_Total7zip_based_7Zip_18_01_release.rar",
containing an executable with the same name.... (Yes, me stoopid to run it at 2:20am) ...

The problem is that you really downloaded something bad.
First of all, I never use RAR for packing files. The reason for this is simple - such a file format can not be decompressed without installing third-party software. Windows can unpack zip files without any problems.

So the original file had name wcx_Total7zip_based_7-Zip_18.01_release.zip

When you open that archive, inside you'll see many files and folders with different names and extensions, not only .exe with the same name.

Could you post the SHA-1 sum for the file?
Then everyone can calculate and compare the sum of the download.

Updated Total7Zip plugin based on current 7-Zip 18.05 release (both 32 and 64 bit versions)

What's new in 7-Zip 18.05 (after 7-Zip 18.01) :
The speed for single-thread LZMA/LZMA2 decoding was increased by 30% in x64 version and by 3% in x86 version.
7-Zip now can use multi-threading for 7z/LZMA2 decoding, if there are multiple independent data chunks in LZMA2 stream.
7-Zip now can use multi-threading for xz decoding, if there are multiple blocks in xz stream.
The speed for LZMA/LZMA2 compressing was increased by 8% for fastest/fast compression levels and by 3% for normal/maximum compression levels.
7-Zip now shows Properties (Info) window and CRC/SHA results window as "list view" window instead of "message box" window.
Some improvements in zip, hfs and dmg code.
Previous versions of 7-Zip could work incorrectly in "Large memory pages" mode in Windows 10 because of some BUG with "Large Pages" in Windows 10.
Now 7-Zip doesn't use "Large Pages" on Windows 10 up to revision 1709 (16299).
The vulnerability in RAR unpacking code was fixed (CVE-2018-10115).
Some bugs were fixed.
New localization: Kabyle.
