Donated and have 2 questions
Donated and have 2 questions
I just donated yesterday but can someone answer these questions?
1. I see that there are now 2 folders with FC in it. One is the older 32 bit version I have been using until recently and the other is the 64 bit version. Can I remove the 32 bit version via the Control Panel without affecting the settings now in the 64 bit version?
2. I donated after seeing the email from Marek about Build 727 but the 64 bit version installed is at Build 716. Is there a different link for Build 727 (as mentioned in the email) or is the version number just wrong?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hmmmmm.......I am surprised that nobody knows the answers to these questions.

Re: Donated and have 2 questions
1. Check both versions to see where they save their settings (menu Help->About). If it's the same place, you'll most likely lose the settings if you uninstall one of them.
Solution: make a backup of your Settings before uninstalling one version and copy them in the same place after that.
2. Build 727 is not mislabeled and download links are different. It seems you have the wrong version.

Read exactly the donor page https://freecommander.com/en/donation/.Is there a different link for Build 727 (as mentioned in the email) or is the version number just wrong?
If you have made the basic donation - you get currently the 715 release.
The curren 727 release you can download if you have "one year" or "lifetime" access.
Re: Donated and have 2 questions
Karol.....after emails from Marek over the last weekend, I did exactly as he asked me to and donated twice for 2 products (I had donated once initially for 2 licenses and then again the same way to get a permanent license). According to what Marek told me, I should have a permanent license but still don't see V727.

Re: Donated and have 2 questions
If you made everything right, then in 'Donor downloads' you should see the following:
Active Subscriptions
Lifetime Donor Downloads Access - Lifetime
Check what you see at your account

Re: Donated and have 2 questions
In your "Donor downloads" area you should see "Current downloads". Simply click on "Current downloads" and you can see the 727 too.
Re: Donated and have 2 questions
I do NOT see a "Donor Downloads" section. Should I see this at the top level of the FC website?
So, far I have donated at the "base" level 4 times now. Marek (in an email over the weekend) said that this was enough for a "permanent license" to see the latest donor downloads.

Re: Donated and have 2 questions
A few minutes ago, I received an email from Marek telling me that I have member access. When I set a new password for member access I see the following:
Lifetime Donor Downloads Access - Lifetime
FreeCommander XE 64-bit donor - expires 09/12/16
Current downloads
Thank you very much for the donation for FreeCommander XE development
FreeCommanderXE-64-donor_setup715.zip
However, I remember seeing an email from FC talking about V727. I don't see that on the "Donor Downloads" page.
Doesn't the "lifetime" above conflict with the expiry date above. Why would it expire on 9/12/16 anyway?

Re: Donated and have 2 questions
What about to click on "Current downloads"?Current downloads
Re: Donated and have 2 questions
Ah, OK...thanks...didn't realize that was even a link.
Is there a conflict between the lifetime and the date though?
Having unpacked the V727 ZIP file, there seems to be no "install" program. The "FreeCommander.exe" just opens up FC....did I miss something? Forget that last sentence, I pulled the portable version by mistake.
OK, I have the 32 bit version uninstalled and V727 64-bit installed. I found it easier to just uninstall both versions and restore settings from a previous backup (I backup settings from various programs (including FC) once per month).
I still don't understand the apparent conflict between lifetime and the date mentioned above though (BTW...it's not obvious whether the 09/12/16 date is DDMMYY or MMDDYY format?).
The USA uses MMDDYY format whereas the rest of the world (AFAIK) uses DDMMYY format. Maybe worth using the month name in that date format?)
Thanks for all of the help and pointers though!
Regards,
Kevin
