Donor Version vs Standard?

#1 Post by My712thLoginHandle » 26.08.2016, 14:40

From what I have been reading, the donor version has more functions than original, and is updated more? Am I correct on any of this? I am trying to see if FC is still good to replace Windows Explorer and, the file manager I used to use, Explorer++ because it stopped being updated. Now, I am all for features I could use, but is there a list somewhere on the comparisons? Is there a demo version of the program for me to try (I am also using 64bit Windows)? The one copy that gets downloaded, I am free to use on all my personal (old and dying) units, or is the copy good for one computer only?
Thanks.

I think most or all of your questions are answered at http://freecommander.com/en/summary/.
There are tabs for "Details", "Version summary (System requirements)", "FAQ", "License", "Donation" and much more.

The differences for public and donor version are not immense but FreeCommander XE 64-bit is currently only available as bonus for the donors and they get more updates.

FreeCommander XE 2016 32-bit public is version 715, FreeCommander XE-donor is version 727.
Important changes and bug fixes you can read at viewtopic.php?f=6&t=775

Some were answered in the attach post you gave, just not in a side by side view of features I was expecting, but it does show 64bit getting updates. I am assuming at this point, no such comparison exists. The post was a bit helpful, thank you.
Still, is there is a trial version? If purchasing one copy I can use on multiple of my systems (all old and dying, but functional)? What "permanent access on the doners page" means?

No, you can use the 32 bit version as long as you want.

Yes, you can use the programm on multiple PCs.

You have access to all future updates - as long I publish any update.

Thank you, but I was referring to the 64bit version. Is there a trial version to try, to see if it works better on my end?

As already answered - no. There is no trial version.
You can assume that you have the same problems with the 64 bit version.
