Currently, the x only appears when the tab is active with that setting enabled.
It would be nice to have the option of the x to appear on inactive tabs also when hovered for example as to not create a messy tab UI.
SUGGESTION - Allow closing inactive tabs with a left where the x should appear

You should create a request in the "Feature Requests" forum.
I don't like such a feature, so it should be added only as option and disabled by default, because it's easy to close tab by mistake with such option.
You can close the tab also with middle click.

Anyway, I don't see how that would be a problem. It would be nice to have the option
How many tabs on chrome or firefox etc do you close by accident? But yes, as I said in the OP, an option.

Re: SUGGESTION - Allow closing inactive tabs with a left where the x should appear
I have many tabs opened, so the tabs are narrow, it's much easier to close tab by mistake, but I'm using mouse tilt to switch tabs, so I don't click the tabs too often (in web browser).

Ctrl+shift+t works in FC like web browsers should a tab get closed by mistake.

I know, but tab is opened at different position.
Anyway, I'm not against the feature, I just think it should be disabled by default.
