822 - Folder Specific Column profiles seem not to work on Subfolders

#1 Post by Mr-Fly » 26.06.2020, 08:22

Hi.

Discovered this today:
When using folder specific column profiles, they seem not to work on subfolders, although configured for them.
In my case I added the sizeondisk column to the Onedrive folder, but subfolders will not have the additional column anymore:

Do you have "*" at the end? Like "...\subfolder*".

I believe you should not have to.
I will try it, but the folder path was added by the dialog itself (save column view for this directory)
The masking is an addon feature as far as I understand it

Went again to my pc to check on it.
If I put it to the end of the last foldername, it will then work.
But this function:

Does not do it!
And in my eyes with the "subfolder" setting the "*" at the end should not be needed.

One example why it would be bad to force a * at the end:
C:\Temp\Folder1
C:\Temp\Folder1b
If I only want to set a specific rule to the first including subfolders I would not be able to as folder1b would also react. So there is a Good reason for the subfolders setting of FC in this case and it’s in my eyes a bug.

So is this now a bug or is it wrong usage?

Try to use
c:\temp;c:\temp\*

Thats works.
But what I dont get is, the config dialog states "" which means subfolder.
With this aproach it feels more like <mask> direction of the config and not in the ?
Additionally adding a folder with the gui will not do this
