825 - Regression - Copy and Move toolbar icons

#1 Post by Free4all » 27.07.2020, 00:26

In 825 (reloaded) Donor, the Copy and Move toolbar icons with the colored arrows now have white backgrounds instead of transparent ones. Maybe you resaved them without the alpha layer?

I tested this with left/right and top/bottom layouts, and the issue is only present with top/bottom layouts.

This is a regression, as the issue did not exist in 822.

What is your used FC version? 32 or 64 bit? Installed or portable? Small or big icons? Which toolbar - at the top, on splitter? Windows version?

Confirmed, 825, 64-bit, portable, large icons, splitter, Windows 10, default dark color scheme, only with option "Use flat symbols" disabled!

Workaround, try to enable "Use flat symbols", those old icons are not very good for dark color schemes, some buttons look not good...

Thanks Dreamer, I didn't think about the old icons.

Thanks. Just FYI, it's definitely a regression because they looked great on release 822 with dark color schemes.

I gave the flat icons a try, but I really didn't like them as much as the regular icons.

Also, I use a bunch of custom made icons in FC, and they look great when I use them with the regular icons but something happens to their rendering when I enable FC's flat icons, causing them to no longer look good. Of course, it could actually be the other way around: maybe the rendering for the normal icons has an issue and I optimized all my custom icons to look good with that issue.

Strange, it should not affect the other icons, perhaps you could create a new topic with the report, screenshots.

Regarding old icons, I used these too, needs time to get used to new icons, but they are better, some old icons has bad/white borders...

I kind of like the 32x32 flat icons, but they are too big for my preference. The smaller flat icons look strange to me. I'm didn't spend enough time with them to really figure out why they looked strange to me. I was going to do that, but then I switched back to the regular icons, and I liked them so much more that I never looked back at the flat ones. One of the many great things about FC is the availability of all the choices so everyone can make it look how they prefer. It's really amazing how flexible of a tool FreeCommander is once you learn the ins and outs.
