I remember that a long time ago, with pre-XE FC, there was an issue with drag and drop not working between FC and the Windows desktop, but I've had no trouble with that for some years now - until very recently when I upgraded my OS from Win7 x64 to Win8 x64. However, as about the same time I updated my copy of FC XE, I don't know whether what has brought the problem back to me is the Windows change or the FC change.
Anyway, now I cannot drag and drop anything into FC, but I can drag and drop out of it onto the desktop or into other programs.

Re: Drag and drop into FC from desktop not working
With Win7/x64, I can drag from the desktop onto FCXE 612.
I suspect the source of your problem is that wonderful Win8, which has changed how some things work. Hopefully other Win8 users can test this.

Re: Drag and drop into FC from desktop not working
I use Win 8/64 already some weeks - no problems with drag&drop.
You know, you must start the drag operation on the icon or label.

But his problem is when dropping onto FCXE, not when dragging out of it.Marek wrote:You know, you must start the drag operation on the icon or label.

-- Yes, and I still have that problem, and it's 100% consistent, which is a continual frustration - have to go up a folder level, then right-click on the folder and choose Open, to open it in Explorer, and then I can drag and drop into that! But FC is so brilliant otherwise!
