DOS command prompt "beep"

I am not sure whether it is a bug or a "feature":
Every time you enter a command in the DOS command prompt and press the enter key, a beep is heared (no matter if it is a faulty command or not).

Version: 2008.6.0.317 beta on Windows XP SP2.
