Startup Latency

#1 Post by rdd2 » 10.02.2017, 13:06

FreeCommander XE 2017 Build 740 64-bit donor / Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - 10.0.14393 Build 14393

Every time I start FC, there is a 2 - 3 minute latency.

Steps: I click on the icon. Nothing occurs for 2 -3 minutes. Then the program opens.

I have no similar issue with any other application.

Thanks.

Do you have any open "network" tabs like file shares?
It could be a network timeout.

Hi pOpY -

Nope no open shares (as faras I know!)

The funny thing about the latency is that it's intermittent. It's not consistent.

It is probably Favorite tools and/or custom favorite tools icons, I have a similar problem.

Please try to create a copy of the FC install folder (ini file inside the FC folder) and remove the favorite tools custom icons in the second installation.

Similar issue...

Thank for your post Dreamer. The problem you describe does sound similar. Please forgive my ignorance: is your suggestion that I open freecommander.ini and remove a line (I looked in freecommander.ini and couldn't find anything about favourite tool icons)? or should I be looking for the icons themselves and deleting them (I did look for them but could not find them)?

Any help is appreciated.

You can remove custom icons manually in the settings, or in the FreeCommander.fav.ini file, search for ".ini" (IconFile=).
