822+ : pane width very small for tree and favorites

#1 Post by gmayerfc » 15.07.2020, 10:20

In FC 822 and 823 the width of the tree pane and favorites pane is very small if FC is loaded with an afore saved layout. I uploaded a screenshot here: https://postimg.cc/5XZK8q9k
see the panes witdh at the left of the screenshot.
If FC is started without an layout everything is OK.
correcting the pane width and saving the layout didnt help.
It worked fine up to FC 820

I Use FC 64-bit on Win 10pro-64 and I use several layouts (programming, CAD, projects...) with lots of predefined tabs.
At the moment I switched back to FC 820

Please check the release 824.
If it is not fixed, please send me your config files.

Hi Marek,
thanx for the quick answer.
unfortunately 824 doesnt fix the problem.
How can I send you the ini-Files (FreeCommander.ini and FreeCommander.lay.ini I assume? or more?)
greetings

I was experiencing the same behavior. I also tried resizing the panel and saving it, which did not fix the problem. I ended up deleting the layouts (I only had two), and recreating them from scratch. Now, everything is working perfectly. Unfortunately, I lost the original layout config file, so I could not compare it with the new.

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I deleted the layouts, or the freecommander.lay.ini file itself.

Send the two files to "marek at freecommander dot com".

This is crazy. Last night, it was working perfectly. I closed and reopened FC many times with success. Today it opens with the same narrow panel. I give up. I will wait for Marek.

I can't give up. If I start FC with no layout specified I can resize panel, restart FC with no layout specified and all is good. I can then select layouts and the panel opens sized correctly. I believe the layout config is not the problem. However, when I close FC, then reopen with layout specified, the tree panel is narrow again. When I close FC and look at the freecommander.ini file, 'TreePanelWidth' has benn change to '5'. Modifying the value has no effect unless I start FC again with no layout specified.

Edit: When I thought it was working yesterday, I suspect I forgot to add the layout parameter back to the startup command.
