Selection focus is lost when navigating backward in history
Selection focus is lost when navigating backward in history
This is a duplicate of http://forum.freecommander.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1602
but since it has not been addressed in 3 years, I am resubmitting it as it still applies to version 2009.02a.
If you navigate to a folder, then navigate back to the parent folder by activating the .. entry, hitting the backspace key, using the "Goto upper folder" button, or double-clicking a blank area, the folder that was just exited is now selected.
However, if you use any of the previous history actions (back button, alt-left arrow) or click the parent folder in the current panel's title with the path display (in the olive green area), the selection focus is not set to the folder just exited. Instead, the focus is set on the first item. I can understand how this might not work if you jump to a totally different folder in the directory tree, but when the previous history item is the parent folder, the selection focus should be set to the child folder that was just left.

Re: Selection focus is lost when navigating backward in hist
My first time posting. First off, Free Commander is the best out there. My thanks and congratulations. I love every aspect of it. With that said, I'd love to see this issue fixed/implemented. I use the Alt-Left Arrow/Right Arrow keys all the time and losing the focus on the parent directory is very frustrating.

Still exists in 2009.02b...I noticed this within 5 minutes of using the program. Very frustrating when there's little problems like this.
Re: Selection focus is lost when navigating backward in hist
In version 542 the selection seems to be kept if you navigate back in history for folders, but not when browsing in/out of archives.

This bug is still present in version 551.joby_toss wrote:In version 542 the selection seems to be kept if you navigate back in history for folders, but not when browsing in/out of archives.

It seems tow works right for me. Could you give an example?
Re: Selection focus is lost when navigating backward in hist
I haven't tried the latest version yet, but like the OP said if you go into a folder and hit the back arrow or use alt-left to go up to the parent folder, the folder you just came from isn't selected and if it's a long list you have to find it again. For me I use my mouse thumb button which is bound to back and selection is lost whenever going to the parent folder using that button.Marek wrote:It seems tow works right for me. Let's say this is the folder tree:Marek wrote:It seems tow works right for me. Could you give an example?
D:\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3
I browse Folder1, then Folder2, then Folder3. I hit "Back" or "Up one folder" and the folder Folder3 is selected (while in Folder2).
This is the right behavior in my opinion.
Now let's say there is an archive in Folder3, D:\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3\archive.zip.
I browse Folder1, then Folder2, then Folder3, then archive.zip (using fc_internal_zip). I hit "Back" and the archive is not selected (it is selected if FC2009 is used).

Your example works for me - tested with NC and normal mode selection, list and detail view.
What about double click on ".."?
What about double click on ".."?
