The new version draws the menus differently than the rest of the system, similar to Office 2003.

It looks really out of place, especially considering the fact that when right clicking a file/folder context menu, we see the regular system context menu with its normal look.

Tools -> View Style has no effect.

Please bring back the regular system drawing of menus!

Or least make it an option!

Try Menu > Tools > View Style...

As I wrote in the original post, Tools->View Style has no effect. It changes the way the toolbars look, but not the main menu nor app context menus.

Why do you compare Office menus with the menus of a file manager?

Or do you compare the menu of explorer and FC?

Which FC version do you use, which windows version, 64 or 32-bit?
Often the menu entries of 64-bit programs are missed (search forum!).

Or post a screenshot of the menu you mean.

Settings > File/folder list > disable the option "Theme off" [ ]...

...restart FC and then try this again:

Menu > Tools > View Style...

I mentioned Office 2003 because it also has fancy menus that look out of place.

I am also getting two different styles for the two menus. That has been the case for quite a few builds in the past.

Just to help define things, the first context menu shown above is for files or folders (right click on a file or folder, including in the Tree), the second context menu is for controlling view, sort, etc. (right click elsewhere in an empty space).

I think it's a reasonable question as to why the two menus are in different styles in FC, regardless of what Office does. Windows Explorer, for example, uses the same style for both. And there doesn't appear to be a setting in FC to control the styles.

From the screenshot it seems like that's exactly what I'm looking for.
I can't see it myself since it's not not in the public beta. Probably only in the donate versions.
Guess I'll wait and see.

Confirmed -- it solves this problem. Both menus are in the same Windows Explorer style.
