Confirmed in 749 64-bit, not just using profiles, also if changing just file name pattern.

This issue remains in the newest version.

FreeCommander XE 2017 Build 755 64-bit donor
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

Rename / Multirename not working when making consecutive rename operations

When renaming files, as described in previous post:
  • After rename operation is executed, the new file name is listed correctly (as configured in settings panel) in the new file name column, yet it is displayed with a green font.
  • In the old file name column, the file name is displayed as it was before the rename operation (black font).
After clicking the reload button:
  • All files in the old name column are listed correctly (i.e. files affected by the rename operation have new file names accordingly). All entries in black font. It is clear, that the file names are being read into FC.
  • In the new name column, all files are displayed with correct file names. The files which were affected by the rename operation are displayed in green font. All other files are displayed in black font.
Changing the configuration in the settings panel and executing another rename operation:
  • In the new name column, all files to be affected by the rename operation displayed in green font. Also, the files which were renamed by the previous rename operation displayed in green font.
  • After rename operation is executed all file names in the new name column are displayed in green font correctly except for the files which were renamed previously. These files are listed filename.ext -> system_error_message (file not found), displayed in red font.
After clicking the reload button:
  • All files in the old name column are listed correctly (i.e. files affected by the rename operation have new file names accordingly) All files not found were not renamed. All entries in black font.
  • In the new name column, all files are displayed with correct file names. The files which were affected by the rename operation as well as the files not found are displayed in green font. All other files are displayed in black font.
This can go on and on.

Note, after rename window is closed, files are then selected in main FC window and the rename function is started again, it is possible to perfom rename operations succesfully, i.e. it is only possible to perform a single rename operation, then the rename function must be aborted and restarted for consecutive rename operations on a given file.

My humble conclusions:
  • The rename function can perform rename operations consecutively.
  • It cannot change file names consecutively.
  • File names from disc are being read into the function and are displayed correctly, this also pertains to the display of new file names according to the configuration in the settings panel.
Maybe the file names cannot be changed consecutively because file access is still being held by previous operation in memory? (Just a guess on my part)

Thanks Marek for such a superb software!
