#1 Post by RuCla » 31.01.2013, 21:06

Hello,
with at least the latest version (613) of FC it is not possible to select two elements in the file list which do not follow each other.
I think this should possible

As far as I know, the only way to select items "via keyboard" is if NC-mode is enabled (Settings > Select Items). Then the Spacebar can be used to select items. This works fine for me in 613, Win7/64.

Could you describe what you are doing when you try to select items? Thanks.

I just move down with the arrow key and then I try to select the elements with space

I thought that it was also possible to select the elements with space without NC-Mode

BTW:
I have tested this with Win7 and Win8
Best regards

Selection by spacebar is one of the defining features of Norton Commander, hence in NC-mode in FC. If you turn off NC-mode, spacebar does not select elements; instead, selection works as in Windows Explorer. That has been true at least back to FC2009.

When you select a file in windows explorer and you hold the CONTROL key, you can select further elements via space.
=> This does not work in FC. So I think your comment is not correct. Am I wrong or did I misunderstood you?

Confirmed.
Hold Ctrl -> hit Down arrow -> hit Space => in FC XE the next file is not selected, while in WE it is.
But is the General selecting mode supposed to mimic WE behavior?

In my opinion, there should at least be *some* way to do multi-select via the keyboard without Norton Commander mode (I never use that). I would expect to be able to do it with the spacebar, however - that seems to me the most intuitive way.

Thanks for pointing this out; I didn't know about it before. I stand corrected.
