Empty the Recycle Bin button?

#1 Post by Anthony2816 » 11.06.2013, 02:28

Could we have a button for the Standard Toolbar that would empty the Recycle Bin?

Hm.. the recycle bin button can be added for toolbars, but the right click menu with "empty bin" option is missing. Also the icon is missing in the "Define action toolbars".

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I can right-click the Recycle Bin within FreeCommander XE, and select Empty from there. But I don't see a button available that would do the same thing.

You could use this free tool: http://optimumx.com/downloads.html#EmptyRecycleBin
I use it with XE on win7x64 and it works great.

Joby, do you mean there's some way to launch that program from a toolbar button?

Right click on the toolbar -> Customize favorite toolbars...

You can also use the "/Q" parameter to avoid the "Are you sure..." pop-up window.

Of course, you can use other tools like Nircmd with "emptybin" parameter, or even directly through the command prompt (or a batch file) with "rd /s %systemdrive%\$Recycle.bin" command.

There is even a Recycle Bin button on the Splitter bar that you can right click and select "Empty..." from.

Very complete lesson...learned a lot. I am using the EmptyRecycleBin.exe suggestion. But I still miss the option to have Recycle Bin in the Standard Toolbar besides the Splitter (which I do not use)

Also...

...if you have displayed the functions bar across the bottom of the window (View->Show->Show functions bar), you may right-click on the "Delete" button and choose "Empty Recycle Bin" from the context menu that appears.

In the release 669 you can add basket to the favorite toolbar. In "Program:" field define: '::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}'.
Then you can use context menu on the button "Show context menu of target item".

Up to .668 this favorite button ::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} opened the Recycle Bin in WinExplorer.
In .669 the same favorite button opens the Recycle Bin folder in the active FCXE pane.
I only tested 64bit FCXE.
