Cannot copy 'behind the scenes'?

#1 Post by kornykova » 08.09.2016, 10:59

Noob here!
I know I must have missed something really basic, but when I copy from one pane to the other I cannot do anything else until the copy is complete!
In Windows, when you start a copy it opens a new window and you can go back to File Explorer and do other stuff.
I assume FreeCommander must have the same functionality, otherwise what is the point of it!?
You want to be able to start a copy or move operation and continue using FreeCommander while the copy or move operation completes in the background.
Please let me know how to do this most basic of tasks!
Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I couldn't figure it out!
Interface looks good, just need this functionality!
Thanks.

This is my biggest problem with FC. If I drag and drop it freezes for the duration. I normally cancel and then use the Copy or Move dialog which can do a background transfer but not via drag and drop. This is obliviously a pain when every other file manager I have used handles this properly. Is there any way to get the Copy/Move dialog to activate via a drag drop operation?

- do not use copy &paste
- if using drag&drop try to deactivate the option "Use blocking transfer" (http://www.freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/DragDrop.html)
- set "use FreeCommander" options for operation for copy/move and use F5, F6 http://www.freecommander.com/fchelpxe/e ... neral.html
- use operations queue
