Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
My request is coming out from this discussion: http://forum.freecommander.com/viewtopi ... =20&t=8262
It seems that currently it is not possible to fully use FC a file handler- the moment you evoke CTRl+C or CTRL+V, Windows comes into action. [And the third party software like TeraCopy is a workaround that does not work for every situation]

Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
I'm not sure if this is possible, but perhaps a workaround...
New options similar to Ctrl+X/C/V (different by default, possible to change it):
- COPY option would move the item(s) to temporary file container "COPY" (and remove all items from container "MOVE", also it would remove any items from "COPY" container first)
- MOVE option would move the item(s) to temporary file container "MOVE" (and remove all items from container "COPY", also it would remove any items from "MOVE" container first)
- PASTE option would check "MOVE" container, if it contain items, they would be moved to actual folder (and remove all items from container), if not, it would check "COPY" container, if it contain items, copy these items to actual folder.

Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
I wouldn't want to have CTRL+X / V shortcut for FC copy.
maybe as an option, but as I said before I wouldn't use it.
I'm glad to have the choice.
For some tasks I prefer Windows copy for other tasks I prefer FC-copy.

Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
As I said, default shortcuts would be different, so it would be different option, but it would be possible to set FC or Win operations for Ctrl+X/C/V, as all other options.
Default shortcuts might be Ctrl+Shift+X/C/V for FC operations.

Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
I would use it mostly to that annoying avoid situations where FC is blocked because I executed CTRL + X and CTRL + V on a large file like a movie
But making this an option would be an optimal solution
Or a workaround to my issue would be if FC would simply not get blocked by such operation
Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
You can use F5/F6 + FC operation options as workaround.
If you don't want to use another panel, you can use F5/F6 with a dialog, "Use current folder" option and use the browse [...] button or the favorite folders button to copy/move.
Alternatively you can even change the Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V shortcuts to open Copy/Move with dialog options.
I know, it's not a perfect solution, but you asked for a workaround.
Re: Make CTRL + X / V keyboard shortcut use FC instead of Windows' menager
Main menu > tools > define keyboard shortcuts > type "copy" in filter and replace the shortcut for option with F5 with Ctrl+C, same for Move.
It's not recommended though. I meant Ctrl+C and Ctrl+X (copy/move), Ctrl+V would be useless, since FC copy/move make these actions in 1 step.

And so I will not temper with that
So that is that, end of story; waiting patiently for a possible upgrade of FreeCommander that would remove those cracks through which Windows Explorer is squeezing itself into the file handling business in an unwanted matter
