RESOLVED - Very slow thumbnail generation compared to Explorer (locks up selection)

#1 Post by stephen147 » 30.05.2019, 23:13

Code: Select all

Build 799 64-bit donor
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
OS Version: 10.0.17763 N/A Build 17763
Folder location: Network / 10Gb
This is Explorer which is snappy.

How FC behaves
Notice how slow the regen of the screen is. It also locks the selection of files and folders until it's finished (Something Explorer doesn't do).

RESOLVED.

Thanks, this is much much faster and it doesn't lock up the scrolling anymore.

Hello Stephen.

Would you please share how you resolved the issue? For some reason your screenshot doesn't appear.

I think I am experiencing the same issue and would appreciate your help.

Thank you!

Best,
Adrian

You need to update FC.

Hello Stephen,

I have it updated to Build 804 32-bit public beta and the issue persists.

Thank you for your feedback however.

Is there any reason why you're running 32-bit?

Perhaps clear the thumbnail cache and try again.

No, however, I checked with the developer and there is no speed difference between 32 and 64 bit versions so it seems there won't be any improvement in moving to the 64 bit version.
Perhaps clear the thumbnail cache and try again.
Thank you for the hint - just did it and nothing changed.

The thing is that the slowness is not only in viewing thumbnails but also in scrolling files/folders while in the details view (standard columns, not many files, solid background color / no stripe). The thing I noticed is that FC runs faster if launched in as the administrator.

Perhaps then create a new thread and explain what you wrote and also give specs of your pc OS.
I didn't notice much lag in details view TBH.

There was no problem with this the previous Windows 10 build and I've since updated to the Octobers that was pushed out last week.

Is that up to date?
