Hello everybody,
in the help for FC I have not found any signs of a good update procedure if many things are personalized.
In theory, there are different ways to transfer settings and ad-ons:
- Copy newer files (* .exe / * .DLL) into an old directory?
- Create new directory for FC -> Save and restore "old settings"?
- Create new directory for FC -> manually copy old * .ini files etc. into the new version?
What about ad-ons and self-made adjustments?
A directory for Icon’s “% FcSrcPath% \ MyIcons \ cross20.png” was recently recommended. Is this also processed under "backup / restore"? Probably not.
A suggestion for such own folders would be MYFC-something. "MYFC-" would then be the format or search criterion for the backup procedure.
Best regards

Update procedure?
Re: Update procedure?
You can just install the new version to the same folder, your settings will be preserved.
If you're using portable/zip version, just unpack and overwrite all files to the same folder too.
All Settings are placed in one folder, how to find it:
https://freecommander.com/en/faq-settin ... s-location
Everything should be in the Settings folder, incl. the paths for any custom icons and so on.
Plugins are in FC install folder - Plugins subfolder.
