Opening multiple folders as new tabs in the same Panel

#1 Post by Forez » 24.02.2020, 19:43

I have found these two topics in the area concerning my wish:

viewtopic.php?t=999
viewtopic.php?t=8573

And so the ALT solution does not work, but with the CTRL the clicked folder get opened as a new tab - unfortunately in the other Panel

So the question arises: how to create such new tabs in the same Panel? Well, in the section "View" of the list of icons for Address bar / Address action toolbar the user can choose either

Open in new folder tab

or

Open in new folder tab in other Panel

And those are helpful in that they save me some time and clicks. But what is missing is an overall ability of FC of being able of opening of all of the selected folders as such new tabs. Because if I use the Quick Filter to look for folders, but then have to go back to the tab with the search results every time I open one of such searched for folder as a new tab, then I am still doing some extra thus tiresome clicking. So I wish I could just select multiple folders and hit an icon on the Address bar or press Enter and see all of those folders opened at once as new tabs. [And as a fail-safe against accidentally overloading FC with many new tabs, a pop up window could appear asking, if the user rally wants to open new XX tabs; if they number should exceed something like 5 or 10, which number could maybe also be definable by the user]

Does not anybody else see this as an useful option that could be added to FC?

Added in 814 donor:

- Changed: Folder->Open focused->In the other pane (new Tab)/In the same pane (new Tab) - these functions are implemented now for several selected elements

It's possible to add a toolbar button for any toolbar, icons are missing, custom icon is needed.
It's possible to assign a keyboard shortcut too.

I just switched to Build 830 32-bit public beta and do not see the difference

I can see that under

Folder > Open focused

there are options than work - the options that I am looking for

But where are they available in the

Define action toolbars > Options

?

All I found were aforementioned

Open in new folder tab

and

Open in new folder tab in other Panel

which I already has as icons- but they open a single folder and not all of the selected ones

In Define action toolbars - type "focused" in the quick filter - and I think the options you want are these two:

In the other panel (new TAB)
In the same panel (new TAB)

I think it's not clear enough and icons are missing too, so you need to assign some.

BTW in the Define keyboard shortcuts window - filter type "open folder", you can assign the shortcuts, here the full names are used.
