I am using this function: File -> Attributes/Timestamp -> Set timestamp as in target folder
I have noticed that the file in the target folder has to have the same name as the file to be modified. Otherwise FC gives error and does not change anything.
I don't understand why is this limitation implemented? Why can't I copy the timestamp of any file/directory under cursor, regardless of name?
Changing timestamp limitation
Re: Changing timestamp limitation
That would require a complete other logic,
as there is no active selection in the target folder.
The logic should be as in Total Commander:
Select some files and while changing its time stamp let you select any file getting the time stamp from.

I have no idea what you mean by that. That would require a complete other logic,

Why would the logic be as in other software? Is FC a downstream clone that has to obey the rules made upstream, or is it an independent software, that can implement things in a different and better way than TC?The logic should be as in Total Commander
What I am asking is this.
1. Why am I forced to copy the date/time from a file with identical name?
2. Why can't I copy the date/time from any other file/directory I put my cursor over?
Re: Changing timestamp limitation
Your number 2 is exactly the logic which I described as used in Total Commander
and what would solve your problem.
The reference to Total Commander is here because FC is a clone of it
with less functionality in some areas, even if you don't know this.
So you have to wait for Marek to add such functionality.
