Quick Filter filtering expression problem [RESOLVED]

#1 Post by Forez » 16.04.2023, 19:58

I am trying to fish out MP3 files from such paths

D:\Archive\2016 03 26\Audio\201e50423_095t627
D:\Archive\2020 02 09\Audio\! Copies
D:\Archive\2022 08 25\Audio\ a-d\ new

hence I navigate in FC to

D:\Archive\

and press CTRL+B to get the Plain View in order to see all files from all of sub-folders. And then I got to the box of Quick Filter and use such expressions

Code: Select all

.*\\Audio\\[^\\]*\\.*\.mp3
.*\\\\Audio\\\\.*\.mp3
.*\\Audio\\.*\\.mp3
*\Audio\*\*.mp3
*\Audio\**.mp3
*Audio*\*.mp3
but they all show me zero files

What would be the correct expressions for Quick Filter?

[I cannot use the Search feature]

Are you trying to find mp3 file with "Fiszki" in the file name, or folder name?

If the word "Fiszki" is in the folder name, it's impossible to filter this, since it's not listed, it's not a file.

If you want to find all mp3 files in the folder with "Fiszki" in the name, use Shift+Ctrl+B, in quick filter add "Fiszki", copy all folders to file container and use Ctrl+B, Ctrl+Y and add "*.mp3".

(I have just corrected my initial post, making it consistent)

It worked beautifully, thank you very much

I must remember this method for the future searches

You're welcome. It's easier to move the files to 1 folder, so you don't have to use that method every time.

BTW If you want to play all mp3 files, you don't have to use quick filter, just focus one mp3 file and use option "Select files with same ext." Alt + Num+, it's possible to add a toolbar button or/and create custom shortcut.

I do not listen to just MP3s on this day or just FLAC tomorrow. I just needed to use a combo of Mp3tag, MP3Gain and FreeCommander [and I think also Everything] to single out messed up MP3 files and restore their tag fields on all of my drives, without messing up others

But the de-selecting of files with the same file format is something I will probably use

But as for seleting:

1] I do not have this option it in my right click menu

2] I have it in the

Main Menu > Edit

3] I can put it on the Splitter and it works. Is it possible to put in on Favorite Toolbar?

4] ALT + Num + ... a file [which leads to all such file selected? And is it suppose to be Numlock?

You can use any toolbar, main, splitter, address bar, side bars.

Favorite tools can't be used AFAIK.

As I wrote, you can create additional, 2nd keyboard shortcut, better accessible, default shortcut can't be used with 1 hand, I'm using Ctrl+E (as Extension), it's not free, but I don't use original shortcut for Ctrl+E, It's easy accessible with left hand, you can use also Ctrl+S to show selected items only. Of course, you can use any shortcut.
