"Keep filter on tab change" option does not work always [FIXED]

#1 Post by Forez » 21.06.2023, 11:35

I have selected the

Tools > Settings > Quick search/filter/starter > Quick search/Quick filter > Keep filter on folder change

option and deselected

Tools > Settings > Quick search/filter/starter > Quick search/Quick filter > Keep filter on tab change

and yet my Quick Filter stays turned on always until I manually turn it off

It is only when I also deselect

Tools > Settings > Quick search/filter/starter > Quick search/Quick filter > Keep filter on folder change

will my Quick Filter automatically turn itself off whenever I will be changing Tabs

I am using FreeCommander XE 2023 Build 891 64-bit Donor Portable on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64, but this has been happening also on older versions like 880 32-bit Public

OK, if using both options - "Keep filter on folder change" and "Keep filter on tab change" and I use "a" for tab 1 and "b" for tab 2, if I switch to tab 3, value "a" from tab 1 quick filter is used also for tab 3.

I'm not sure if it's a bug, but it would be better, if the quick filter state would be saved per tab, same as the plain view works.

Value "a" from tab 1 quick filter is used also for tab 3 if
- the path in tab1 is the same as in tab3
- you create from tab1 new tab3

It is due to active option "Keep filter on tab change".

OK, another steps:
- use both options - "Keep filter on folder change" and "Keep filter on tab change"
- create and lock tabs 1, 2, 3 with different paths
- for tab 3 disable quick filter, clear the field
- for tab 1 use "a" in quick filter
- for tab 2 use "b" in quick filter
- go to tab 1
- go to tab 3
= "a" from tab 1 is used for tab 3 and quick filter is enabled for tab 3 too

- go to tab 4
= "a" from tab 3 is used for tab 4 and quick filter is enabled for tab 4 too

The paths for all tabs is different, all tabs are existing, locked, not newly created.

I think it's a bug, if the quick filter is enabled for all tabs, custom value is saved correctly per tab, but if I switch to any other tab with disabled quick filter, it's changed to enabled and value from previous tab is used.

I think it should keep quick filter state and value per tab, as for the plain view for example.

891 donor 64-bit, Windows 10 22H2 64-bit.

My explanation was wrong.
I think, you are right. "Keep filter on tab change" should be valid for empty quick filter in the tab too.
Changed for the next release.

Thanks, Marek, it's changed in 892.

Quick filter state and value are saved per tab now.
