Plain view with sorting of files by their folders?

#1 Post by Forez » 01.11.2024, 20:29

I have 150 folders. Each folder has as its name a number starting from 001 and in each there is 1 or 2 files. I need to create a complete list of all those 150+ files which list will bear an order that will have the file from folder 001 as the very first one and the files from folder 150 as it last ones. Is it somehow achievable in FreeCommander?

Plain View [CTRL + B] automatically arranges all of those files in alphabetical order; which is useful but not applicable to the task I need to perform

It seems that I can turn on the Detailed View and then sort by the Column of Folder Name; and then I can select all, open the Multi Rename window and add a counter at the beginning of the File Name field

So the only downside is that I will then have to remove those numbers later on - or to avoid that I would had to operate on a copy of those numbered folders

It should be possible to create column profile with the sorting option you need, then use this column profile in Auto selectable views and then it should be possible to use the sorting option you need, to sort it automatically.

Yes, it should

Alternatively, when working with audio files, instead of numbering files I can load them up to Mp3tag and sort them by %_DIRECTORY% and save such order as a playlist file
