926: Not compressing moved files when destination folder is set to automatically compress files

#1 Post by Free4all » 26.03.2025, 11:45

FC v926 64-bit in Win11

When using the toolbar button defined as:
actFileMove=Move: &Move ; Moves the selected items. The command executor is depending on the settings.

And the destination folder is set to always compress its contents (verified using Windows' compact.exe), the moved file will not get compressed.

On the other hand, if the user cuts and pastes the file in FC to the same destination folder, it does get compressed.

I have FC set to use Windows for file operations.

You are right.
Per default the Windows API move operation does not compress the file (copy operation make it).
I wrote it to my to-do list.
