What about place all the settings files into a single subfolder "Settings", then it would be clear for all users, it would be easier to backup.
Another suggestion - auto-backup, just create and maintain 2 or more bak files on FC start, one every day if possible, e.g.:
FreeCommander.ini
FreeCommander.ini.2011-02-04
FreeCommander.ini.2011-02-02
FreeCommander.ini.2011-02-02
The same for the other settings files. Maintain few backup files and automatically delete older.
In FC there are too many settings, especially fav. tools, colors, so it's very important to make a backup, but most users don't do it, or don't know how to do it. I think the auto-bak feature should be in all programs and games, enabled by default of course.
Settings - place all in a single folder and auto-backup
Re: Settings - place all in a single folder and auto-backup
I think, it is a good idea.
Re: Settings - place all in a single folder and auto-backup
Thanks, regarding the name, just small improvement, there should be "bak" whithin the file name, e.g.:
FreeCommander.ini
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-04
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-02
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-02
FreeCommander.ini
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-04
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-02
FreeCommander.ini.bak.2011-02-02
