I often use the powerful bulk renaming app: ReNamer.
Currently, I have added the path to the ReNamer executable to the "Send to" folder.
Thus, after selecting multiple files in the FC's Folder panel, I right click and then select the Send to option, and then select the ReNamer option.
This launches ReNamer and automatically passes all selected files to ReNamer.
Instead of this three-step method, I would like to launch ReNamer with a single hotkey, and pass all files selected in the active folder panel to it.
How do I do this?
ReNamer has a commandline mode.
Thanks in advance!
How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
Re: How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
Create a favorite tools item for ReNamer, use Parameter and drag&drop files to this item or/and assign a hotkey for this item.
Code: Select all
%ActivSelName%
Re: How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
Thanks for the rapid response!
BTW the %ActivSelName% parameter did not work: The selected files were not passed to ReNamer.
I changed the parameter to %ActivSel% and that works.
(Recording here so that other users can benefit.)
I set the hotkey and now it works in one shot.
A related question: The hotkeys seem to be restricted to "CTRL+n"-type combinations.
I would like to change it to CTRL+SHFT+R (for rename) or something like that (if this hotkey is already in use).
Is that possible?

Re: How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
You're welcome.
I tested with another program, %ActivSel% worked with a hotkey, but not with drag&drop, %ActivSelName% worked for both.
All keyboard shortcuts are customizable, you can change or/and add any shortcut also as a second shortcut, just filter "fav", click to Favorite 01, or other item, click to "2." and create new shortcut, e.g. Shift+F2 looks free and it's similar to Rename F2.

Re: How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
Thanks indeed: That was a wonderful tip!
(I use a lot of powerful apps, and it is very difficult to remember all hotkeys in all those apps. So it's best to set the hotkeys logically.)
SHFT+F2 it is!
Maybe there is some difference in ReNamer, which is why %ActivSelName% didn't work.
I don't prefer mouse operations at all.
So if drag-n-drop does not work with %ActivSel%, I don't mind.
In any case, IMHO the ReNamer toolbar icon is too small as a drop target!

Re: How to launch ReNamer with selected files?
I tested with another program, not with ReNamer, so perhaps it's working with one of the parameters.
It's possible to use big icons for everything in FC, for Define favorite toolbars it's "Toolbar options" tab - "Use big icons", it's even possible to use captions.
