#1 Post by EricD850 » 31.07.2024, 15:33

Operating System Windows 11 Pro 24H2

With version 911 many of FreeCommander icons gone crazy or invisible.

I revert to 910 : all icons are correct.

At least for me, there is no such problem.

Confirmed in 911, with portable version, default settings.

Workaround: switch color scheme to any dark scheme, then restart program, then switch to any color scheme, e.g. White_Default.

The new icons are for dark color schemes only, to use the new transparent dark mode icons:
- open Settings - View - Icon sets
- add the color schemes to the field below or click the [...] button and select the color schemes
- set any of added color schemes in menu - View - Color schemes
- restart FreeCommander

New color schemes optimized for the new transparent dark mode icons are added here:

Color Schemes - Files - Page 3 - FreeCommander Forum

After switching back to light color scheme, program restart is needed again, to get the original icons.

- check "Tools->Settings->View - Icon Sets" - the option "Use icon set" must be "Flat Pro"; field "Use dark mode icons for color schemes" first leave empty
- check if you have the new FCIcons64.dll

I tried to re-download 911 portable zip, unpacked to a new folder, started FC exe and it's broken, dark mode icons are used.

- "Tools->Settings->View - Icon Sets" - the option "Use icon set" is "Flat Pro"
- field "Use dark mode icons for color schemes" is empty
- file FCIcons64.dll is in the folder

I think it's a bug, if no color scheme is selected, dark mode icons are used.

Workaround from my post above is working:
switch color scheme to any dark scheme, then restart program, then switch to any color scheme, e.g. White_Default
Another workaround, just change the color scheme to any, even the same, White default, and restart program.

Hi,

Icon set seems correct

FCIcon64.dll : version 1.0.7.0

I tried the workaround (changing the color scheme) : no difference.

Windows 10, but it should be the same with Windows 11, it will be fixed in the next version.

EDIT: Workaround should work with Windows 11 either.

I can't confirm completely:

following Mareks instructions, i.e. leaving field "Use dark mode icons for color schemes:" blank does solves the problem
but if after a restart I select the color scheme "Dark_Grey_&_Silver_No_Colors_simple" in the field "Use dark mode icons for color schemes:" and restart FC, the issue returns

Using version 912

"Dark_Grey_&_Silver_No_Colors_simple" - this color scheme was created when dark mode icons did not yet exist. Therefore, the new icons with this color scheme cannot be optimal.
Simply use normal icons or try current "FreeCommander_Dark" or "FreeCommander_Dark_Blue".

As Marek wrote already, that color scheme is not optimized for Dark mode transparent icons, just remove this color scheme from that field for dark mode icons.

If you want to use dark mode transparent icons, use any color scheme optimized for dark mode, "FreeCommander_Dark", "FreeCommander_Dark_Blue", or any new "Deep Dark" color schemes, more info and the schemes are here:

If you mean something else, explain, what exactly do you want, need to achieve, please.

I changed to FreeCommander_Dark leaving the field "Use dark mode icons for color schemes:" blank.
Then I entered FreeCommander_Dark into above mentioned field and restarted. The issue I am addressing has to do with an Icon on the splitter (copy with dialog), which is underneath a separator.
Following is a picture showing both situations using FreeCommander_Dark and comparing it to my preferred color scheme (see previous post).

As you can see, behavior is identical.

FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 912 64-bit donor
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 22H2 Build 19045.4780

P.S.
@ Marek: The icons on the toolbar do not show any issues by the way.
@ Dreamer: The regular icons look best with my preferred color scheme. I don't think I need anything. Thanks, I always appreciate your input.
